<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The majority of the items I crochet are from patterns, and the bulk of those are free patterns. There are hundreds of free crochet patterns online! My skill level allows me to free-hand crochet some things, but I'm not patient enough to write out patterns, so those items, alas, end up being a one-of. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In case anyone is wondering... I was taught the rudimentary fundamentals of crochet as a child by my mother or grandmother. Honestly, I don't remember this at all. But about 4 years ago, as I was looking for a project that I could take on cruise that wasn't messy, crochet started to interest me. I watched some You Tube videos, bought some hooks, and thought myself how to read patterns. I enjoy the meditative repetition of crocheting, and the challenge the stitches bring. Plus the awesome things you get to create! It's a super fun medium I am only beginning to learn the possibilities of. And truthfully, if I can learn it, anyone can.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Creating!</div>

...Having covered a sliver of the future, allow me now to delve into the past for your entertainment. I wanted to keep going on the theme of things I've done recently. Now, it's perfect!Jendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02258976247281643762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23313709.post-44601863397723485582017-08-22T16:58:00.000-04:002017-08-22T16:58:00.461-04:00What.... where have I been?!Sea Duty. That is the short answer. Up until VERY recently I was Active Duty US Navy. It's took a toll on my spirit, mind, and body. However, I am now beginning the next section of my life. And it's exciting! An art studio, surrounded by beauty, and time to be me. <br />
I have decided submit a sketchbook to <a href="https://www.sketchbookproject.com/" target="_blank">The Sketchbook Project</a> this year. It will be the second year that I have done so. Last year I submitted a book entitled "One Life". I had a really good time making it. but this year Iam in a better place, and looking for ways to express and expand my art. <br />
So I chose the theme "Underwater" and started brain storming. <br />
I came up with lots of ideas, and dutifully wrote them all down, even if I didn't think it was very good. I would consider myself a spontaneous crafter. I make what I'm making once. I don't practice so much as I attempt. If whatever I'm trying works, great! And if not, well, I move on. <br />
But today I realized my methods are changing. For the better, I think! Allow me to explain by photo: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoxVpl6aVae2VowoYmnbQeJf0sU9wFwcQc1F2KdKebuHP69nbbOHfqESo-pYm76XUdq2ESpouS97L2yDXTiouIjfCxPtd8KKZu8Ig-Dy3wkKFfNZzkb87dM1fu5_vGipfxqcgc/s1600/IMG_1577.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoxVpl6aVae2VowoYmnbQeJf0sU9wFwcQc1F2KdKebuHP69nbbOHfqESo-pYm76XUdq2ESpouS97L2yDXTiouIjfCxPtd8KKZu8Ig-Dy3wkKFfNZzkb87dM1fu5_vGipfxqcgc/s320/IMG_1577.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBc4Hnl6L6BEjtwK0kOrsF8Jdem13MPDlp5yqhlSO3BOOrNxMTWUf7VZ0wsrLVXxmT5_Cq-LdfYYql2TXXif7WebtVAd_JQ181TYWr0NaQFkCu0XzUPOnqhc7-Oekqqiih-6Ft/s1600/IMG_1579.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBc4Hnl6L6BEjtwK0kOrsF8Jdem13MPDlp5yqhlSO3BOOrNxMTWUf7VZ0wsrLVXxmT5_Cq-LdfYYql2TXXif7WebtVAd_JQ181TYWr0NaQFkCu0XzUPOnqhc7-Oekqqiih-6Ft/s320/IMG_1579.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Clearly you can see what I mean. Instead of having only one idea, one concept, I am getting better at expounding on an original idea. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On a side note... I am going to try and get this blog up and running again. I've started making things again, and there are SO many projects to get going. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wish me luck!</div>

The blue one is made from scrapbooking paper, and the green one from the pages of some old books I had cut up for other projects. This year I feel like I have a bit of a jump start - I have updated my Christmas Card list, finished making my cards (Yes, this year I have hand made cards! I'm such an over-achiever!), taught myself how to make intricate snowflakes, and have reservations for dinner and the Christmas Parade for this evening. Whew! I have made the false promises before... but this time is different. Life isn't in the way anymore. I have had a lot of changes this summer, most notably in my career. But fall is in the air, and I have a need to create. Today I did some Halloween crafts, and in the morning I will dust off the camera and post some pictures. Looking forward to it!Jendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02258976247281643762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23313709.post-32035449055000677542009-07-12T13:57:00.002-04:002009-07-12T13:58:43.350-04:00And with yesterday's finds...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigRPxBL6MP-znPqypFEfb_NNP95Dj4jRKf9fyVwLv0gFg80b-fSzMcMgaHVkvzJQUs0E1TSZyoaUZHnvcEEjz8FiPioELh24Iv1ISPXDXok8L4WfBx2o-Irb8HMFxnE-5EMqe0/s1600-h/IMG_4581.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 296px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigRPxBL6MP-znPqypFEfb_NNP95Dj4jRKf9fyVwLv0gFg80b-fSzMcMgaHVkvzJQUs0E1TSZyoaUZHnvcEEjz8FiPioELh24Iv1ISPXDXok8L4WfBx2o-Irb8HMFxnE-5EMqe0/s400/IMG_4581.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357634594373525090" /></a>Jendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02258976247281643762noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23313709.post-42868577254831503712009-07-11T15:58:00.004-04:002009-07-11T16:12:12.073-04:00Fabulous Fleas!The Bazaar season has started! Today I went to two Church Bazaars and a few thrift stores. I love the possibility of coming home with a treasure! <div><br /><div>I know I get it from my mom - she practically raised me in a dumpster.</div><div><br /></div><div>No, it's not what you think; she just lives by the "One man's trash is another man's treasure" theory of life! </div><div><br /></div><div>First I found this for a mere 45 cents:</div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXPl5tRnduIh-8Xpc3N0K_6P4famKnd1AVHdMavX5qIAZbBLWZEKxVrNNq3Kfpp3nCTqsfyq3P9hC2h8RfeA9CU3y7Oi3xP4r6Uk1EDLhhCps0pbAJTFjlOS2xlX8NSsEz3tV5/s1600-h/IMG_4580.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXPl5tRnduIh-8Xpc3N0K_6P4famKnd1AVHdMavX5qIAZbBLWZEKxVrNNq3Kfpp3nCTqsfyq3P9hC2h8RfeA9CU3y7Oi3xP4r6Uk1EDLhhCps0pbAJTFjlOS2xlX8NSsEz3tV5/s400/IMG_4580.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357295023277400226" /></a>I know it's not spectacular, but it would have been a couple of dollars in a craft store, and it will be fabulous when altered.</div><div><br /></div><div>Next are these gems:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiirs8QOp30FeJk2XCt-3vf47B-q_2jakBXSXLn2iWmJ06KJ6olbO03bGnlqJJceCdwnoEPulIsp6HxITuB9To2Iq4BSa-S6A46olkaGm9I5KFmIMlBxyXflguvVbIcRM8blssZ/s1600-h/IMG_4578.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiirs8QOp30FeJk2XCt-3vf47B-q_2jakBXSXLn2iWmJ06KJ6olbO03bGnlqJJceCdwnoEPulIsp6HxITuB9To2Iq4BSa-S6A46olkaGm9I5KFmIMlBxyXflguvVbIcRM8blssZ/s400/IMG_4578.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357295020457922802" /></a>The two owls were found at one of the churches, and the fabric at a thrift store. I think the owls are adorable! I have no idea what I'll use them for, but couldn't pass them up. </div><div><br /></div><div>Now these are fabulous:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2hj4KDoqWdM5vAZhnpD85i7WUPOygEdbtTrahGD42cwqLMArOM7I2k9Uwt36ZCw_pNUaRSj85UE4FG25EgQYVbazlc_1ikAI9T-Qggrdg0noSt3xd6236u06fY2KK2Yl2vL78/s1600-h/IMG_4579.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2hj4KDoqWdM5vAZhnpD85i7WUPOygEdbtTrahGD42cwqLMArOM7I2k9Uwt36ZCw_pNUaRSj85UE4FG25EgQYVbazlc_1ikAI9T-Qggrdg0noSt3xd6236u06fY2KK2Yl2vL78/s400/IMG_4579.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357295013358397986" /></a>Three great post cards. The top one has a lovely letter on the back side, the middle one struck my fancy because the lady's face on the end has been rubbed out. And then the bathing beauties... how can you not want them?</div><div><br /></div><div>Finally, for a mere $5:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxQIJS9n4iYPimFqqazghhAca9U6jvTrr-ZNc_zCHznkzdmPKCWWhoXaT2va2YqkZhz-YEJyfuz8SoyXAfUvQhObVsr0_vGa_qq2X81v1JHcKMPJlClrntPYh8ol1BwkPPyH2h/s1600-h/IMG_4571.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxQIJS9n4iYPimFqqazghhAca9U6jvTrr-ZNc_zCHznkzdmPKCWWhoXaT2va2YqkZhz-YEJyfuz8SoyXAfUvQhObVsr0_vGa_qq2X81v1JHcKMPJlClrntPYh8ol1BwkPPyH2h/s400/IMG_4571.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357295004578036290" /></a>A manual typewriter! I had allowed daily stress to push her out of the way. Oh, how I missed her! <div><br /></div><div>But this weekend was a busy one. On Friday I accomplished a goal that I had set for myself. I have been feeling very successful since then. And on Saturday I spent the day in the studio. </div><div><br /></div><div>And today my husband and I buckled down and did some good old fashioned cleaning. Whew. Busy like a bee, I tell you! </div><div><br /></div><div>But let me share some of what I have done:</div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Pq0mtoHopVKmUCHjiFlOOnBAofu5Z-UXaEjgt_ZHIoJze9ok-zczKroeTJ4gD0_6yyHohnsujp7MnsWClArswctfsbHO4CA37QBlGxdTvXnbx8dO-T1vUwNlZYIe7wKpxSgx/s1600-h/IMG_4387.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 295px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Pq0mtoHopVKmUCHjiFlOOnBAofu5Z-UXaEjgt_ZHIoJze9ok-zczKroeTJ4gD0_6yyHohnsujp7MnsWClArswctfsbHO4CA37QBlGxdTvXnbx8dO-T1vUwNlZYIe7wKpxSgx/s400/IMG_4387.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349899921075920930" /></a> I bought a dictionary at a used book store - just so I could cut it up. And yet, I still neglect my blog. No celebrating blogaverseries, no comments. It's just so sad. <div><br /></div><div>It's not that nothing is going on. I guess it's just that life got in the way. </div><div><br /></div><div>I've had some stress at work, but that has almost been worked thru. </div><div><br /></div><div>I joined the Photographic Society of America. But have yet to participate in anything. That's this week's goal.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>They've sent me some great emails about fantastic things that are going on. It's going to be awesome!<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span></div><div><br /></div><div>I also joined a local photography group: The Hampton Roads Digital Shutterbug Club. I went to my first meeting last week. They have so many events planned! Contests, Educational Programs, Critiques, Gallery Shows... it's exciting! I am looking forward to being a part of this fantastic group.<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span></div><div><br /></div><div>On the home front, T and I just bought a Scooter. All right, more accurately, a big ass Harley Davidson! That's what's been taking up a lot of our time! Every weekend we go riding. Down to the outer banks, over to Emporia... and today if the weather holds I think I'll get him to take me on a ride down the Colonial Parkway. <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"></span></div><div><br /></div><div>I guess that's the scoop from here. I will stop just short of making anymore empty sounding promises. So until next time...<span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div>Jendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02258976247281643762noreply@blogger.com1
